Avery Park's Village Square Makes for Unique Entry Feature

While home sales at Avery Park continue at a brisk pace, the
commercial Village Square at Avery Park has created a unique statement of
its own.
Avery Park is one of only a few Atlanta-area communities to have a
commercial area as its entry feature. Promoted as an extension of historic
downtown Newnan, the Avery Park commercial area is true to
turn-of-the-century style architecture.
"From its urban-like design to its brick detail, the Village Square
entry building is not only reminiscent of turn-of-the-century Newnan, it is
designed for today's business and residential uses," says Kip Oldham,
architect of the project and president of Newnan-based K.A. Oldham Design.
Features of the building include 11 residential lofts on the second
floor featuring open floor plans and 12-foot ceilings. The main level will
be home to a 6,200 sq. ft. restaurant and a gourmet grocery store with
prepared-to-eat foods and a grocery delivery service. A gift shop
featuring Newnan and Coweta-made products will also be housed on the main
level. Other businesses including a real estate office, an investment
company and a dry cleaning service will also be part of the unique building.
In addition to the unique entry structure, Avery Park's commercial
Village Square is also home to The Goodson Building, which features a
family dental practice and several retail stores. A
turn-of-the-century-style convenience center is also planned for the
Village Square.
Pat Heaberg, vice president of commercial and industrial development
at Pathway Communities believes the Village Square is a great complement to
Avery Park's already booming residential component, which is estimated to
have as many as 850 homes.
"The Village Square creates a feeling for the community right from
the start," states Heaberg. "It automatically gives people the feeling
that Avery Park is not just an average subdivision, but rather a community
with a real sense of place, that offers residents and the surrounding area
a variety of retail and professional services."
Adding to Avery Park's appeal are the community's vast green belts and
open areas, which make up more than 30% of the community. Other amenities
include walking trails and pedestrian paths which will connect residents to
the Village Square, a competition-size swimming pool, tennis courts and
community parks.
Homes are priced from the mid $100s to the $300s and range in style
from turn-of-the-century to traditional to custom.
Avery Park is located on Highway 29 in Newnan. For more information
